One of the things that I enjoy most about the outpost is organizing the learning journeys. A series of tours where the students explore very different realities. Yesterday we had 5 such missions of explorations of Bogota and the surroundings.
The students went to
- La quebrada de vieja – hiking into often hard accessible but beautiful mountains that surround bogota at day break.
- Corabaostos food market, the biggest food market in Colombia
- Redlight district or zone of high impact, guided by an incredible transvestite community leader who have been fighting for the rights of the 75.000 prostitutes she says are working in Bogota.
- Ciudad Bolivar, the biggest shanti town in Colombia, where most of the displaced people arrive when they get to Bogota. The students experienced some of the treasures there, very open and welcoming people, an incredible school designed as a green oasis, the beautiful rural scenery and the curiosity with which they were welcomed.
- The Cultural Bogota, visiting lots of small cool galleries, exploring the art and cultural side of Bogota and learning about the history of graffiti and street art here.
- Universities, where the students visited the Tadeo university and Identity school for digital arts.
